Black 2/1 rib is a standard choice when you want a heavier rib with a clear structure for finishes. The quality is often used for rib cuffs at waist and hem, necklines, and sleeve finishes on sweatshirts, tracksuits, and jersey jackets, where the edge needs to move with the wearer while still looking sharp.

The higher weight gives more body than a classic 230–240 g rib. This makes the rib relevant for production when sewing in heavier jogging and sweat qualities and you want to avoid the rib looking too light in the overall appearance. Black also works well in assortments because it can be combined across colours and prints without stealing focus.

Fabric shops typically use black rib as a stock colour because it repeats across many customers’ basic needs. Smaller clothing manufacturers choose it when they want to standardise rib trims across multiple styles and secure stable reorders.

Wash at 30 degrees, preferably inside out. Avoid tumble drying so the rib holds up wash after wash.
