2/1 Rib — Bordeaux Melange is a rib knit cotton jersey in 95% cotton and 5% elastane, 300 g/m² and 95–100 cm wide.

Bordeaux melange provides a deep, muted colour play that is often used in autumn and winter palettes. The melange effect makes the colour less sharp than a pure solid bordeaux, and it is easy to pair with black, navy, grey and off-white in a retail range.

2/1 rib at 300 g/m² is often used for rib cuffs, necklines and sleeve finishes on sweatshirts and lightweight jackets, but also for fitted tops, dresses with rib structure and accessories such as beanies and neck warmers. The extra weight adds more stability when the garment needs a “dense” look.

Focus on coverage: the compact rib structure and weight provide good body and less show-through compared with lighter rib. This is relevant when your customers want rib as a main fabric and not only for trims.

Fabric shops typically bring in bordeaux as a season-neutral fashion colour, while smaller producers use it for short runs where the colour needs to look calm and consistent. The quality works well as a supplement to base jersey knit fabric when you want to offer a rib with more body.

Wash at 30 degrees, inside out. Avoid tumble drying to preserve the rib structure and elasticity.
