Red 2/1 rib is often used for rib trims, necklines and sleeve finishes on sweatshirts, hoodies and classic cotton jersey garments, where the edge needs more body than a lighter rib. The heavier weight gives a clear rib structure and makes the quality suitable for children’s wear as well as womenswear and menswear when you want a defined, shape-stable finish.

The 2/1 structure provides a rib that works nicely with stretch without feeling limp. This makes it easier to achieve consistent rib trims in production, and the rib holds its shape through repeated stretching. The colour is bright and works as a contrast for dark sweat qualities or as tone-on-tone for red styles.

Fabric shops and smaller producers typically buy 2/1 rib as a permanent stock component for matching finishes on seasonless basic styles. If you want to build a coherent range, it makes sense to pair rib with solid colour fabrics in the same weight class.

Wash at 30 degrees, preferably inside out. Avoid tumble drying to maintain elasticity and shape.
