Raw stout canvas fabric is often used for sample sewing, toile, reinforcements and simple items where a stable base is required. The quality is also seen in bag production, internal components and as protective fabric for packing. Many search for stout fabric roll, because the 160 cm width provides good cutting efficiency and strong fabric economy by the metre.
The 150–155 g/m² weight provides a lightweight to midweight cotton base that holds its shape without being too heavy. The unbleached, raw surface gives a neutral, natural look that works well for dyeing, printing and production marking. The search phrase what is stout fabric often relates to exactly this: a simple woven cotton canvas used as a standard material when you want to plan and repeat the same process.
Fabric shops and smaller clothing manufacturers order stout fabric as a core stock item for ongoing order flow. Consistent weight and width from roll to roll make it easier to calculate consumption and maintain the same result across batches.
Wash at 40 degrees. Pre-wash recommended, as raw cotton may shrink. Avoid tumble drying for more stability.
Combine with other canvas qualities under Stout if you want more variants within the same product group.
