Linen melange coating wool is often used for coats, short jackets, vests and capes when you want a wool look with a calmer, melange colour play. The polyester content adds extra durability and makes the quality more robust for everyday wear, which is relevant for both retail ranges and production.
The melange surface makes small variations less visible, giving a stable and forgiving look in sewn series. This is an advantage when working with large panels such as coat fronts and back pieces. The wool blend also provides warmth and structure, helping the garment keep its shape better throughout the season.
Fabric shops often stock coating wool as part of their autumn and winter programme because customers demand classic coating materials with clear texture. Smaller clothing manufacturers use this quality for outerwear lines when they want a reliable material choice without committing to very high minimum quantities.
As a rule, do not machine wash. Use gentle dry cleaning, and press with low heat and a pressing cloth if needed. Always test on an offcut sample before production.
Combine with other wool qualities in Coating wool to cover more colours and looks in your range.
