Faux suede in fossil is an upholstery fabric in 100% polyester with a dense, velvety surface. At 330 g/m² and 145 cm wide it is made for upholstery work.

Fossil is a light greige, a mix of grey and sand. It is used for sofas, armchairs and cushions when the brief is a neutral that is neither plain grey nor plain beige.

Because the fabric is woven rather than knitted, it is stable to work with in upholstery and sewing. The surface is water repellent, so spills stay as droplets instead of soaking in. At over 45,000 Martindale it is a hard-wearing choice for furniture in daily use.

The quality is chosen by upholsterers, fabric shops and smaller furniture makers who need a suede-look surface they can reorder in the same colour. It comes in 30 colours, so it can run across several collections at once.

Blot spills right away while they are still on the surface. For tougher stains, use a microfibre cloth dampened with water and mild soap. Try the method on a hidden spot first.
