Wide-wale corduroy provides a clearly defined texture and a more robust look than poplin and many other woven fabrics. The washed finish makes the surface more muted and gives a soft hand feel, while the fabric retains its characteristic rib texture.

Black wide-wale corduroy is often used for trousers, overshirts, skirts and jackets when you want a classic look with added texture. The quality can also be used for accessories such as bags and cushions when you want a textured surface that adds variation to a collection.

Buyers often choose black as a core colour because it can run as a permanent stock item and be combined with both light and dark colours. For fabric shops, it provides a reliable standard, and for smaller producers, the colour makes it easier to plan reorders.

Wash at 30 degrees and preferably inside out to protect the surface. Avoid tumble drying. Let the fabric air dry and press at low to medium heat on the reverse side.
