Asphalt is a deep dark grey with a quiet green undertone, like a wet road after rain. It is softer than black and works for both adult and childrenswear.

In the dark shade, the ribs stand out clearly with small shadows between the lines, so the fabric has texture without being patterned. That is why it looks more vibrant than a flat black, both on the shelf and on the body.

Certified and animal-friendly: the wool is mulesing-free and comes from sheep that are not mulesed (a painful procedure where skin is cut away around the tail). Woolmark stands for genuine quality wool, and Oeko-Tex 100 means tested free from harmful substances.

Ideal for close-fitting turtlenecks, soft trousers and base layers, and for hard-wearing winter leggings for children. Asphalt matches ochre, rust, cream, rose and denim, making it easy to build a range around. It also works as a solid dark base under changing prints. Wash at 30° on a wool programme, dry flat, never tumble dry, no bleaching, no ironing. Shrinkage 3–5%. Store flat.
