Black cotton canvas is classic and timeless. It is used by upholstery manufacturers, fabric shops serving hobby sewists, and smaller garment factories for bags, backpacks, uniforms and heavy clothing where durability matters. Black is also suited for creative projects and crafts as it does not show handling marks easily.

The canvas has good lightfastness – the colour does not fade when exposed to daylight over time, which is critical for furniture placed near windows or clothing worn outdoors year-round. The construction ensures the fabric does not wear out or become blotchy, even after many washes and years of use.

The fabric requires no pre-wash and is delivered ready to use. From roll to roll, the black colour is consistent without visible shade changes or burn-out, which is especially important for manufacturers producing larger furniture or clothing ranges where consistency drives customer satisfaction.

Wash at 40°C inside out and separately from light fabrics for the first washes – black may bleed minimally. Can be tumble dried on low heat. Combine with contrast colours from our cotton canvas range for two-colour design or binding.
