How we make exclusive digital printing — from AI to fabric
Jydsk Stoflager’s digital print jersey is not produced in the same way as standard prints from a catalog supplier. Each design starts as an AI-generated starting point, is then manually refined in Photoshop and printed on jersey — and the result is a fabric you won’t find at any other supplier. That’s the whole point.
Why exclusivity matters for your business
When you buy fabric from a large wholesaler with a standard catalog, you run the risk of your competitor across the street selling clothes in the exact same print. That’s a problem whether you’re a fabric store, clothing manufacturer or brand owner. Your customers notice it — and they remember it.
Exclusive print is a competitive differentiator. It gives your customers a reason to come back to you instead of shopping around. And it gives your products an identity that can’t be copied directly from the next wholesaler’s price list. That’s exactly what our digital print jersey is built to deliver.
How we develop a new design — step by step
The process behind each print is more artisanal than many expect. AI is used as a creative starting point — not as a finished product. Here’s what happens from idea to finished fabric:
- AI-generated starting point: We use AI tools to generate design concepts based on season, trend and market demand. This gives us a broad starting point quickly.
- Manual refinement in Photoshop: Each design is adjusted and refined by hand. Colors are balanced, patterns are adapted to the structure of the jersey and repetitions are checked. This is where the generic becomes something special.
- Color matching for digital printing: Digital printing on jersey requires precise color management. We ensure that what you see in the sample is what you get on the roll — and that color reproduction is consistent from roll to roll. This is crucial when you put an entire collection into production.
- Quality control and certification: The majority of our digital print jersey is GOTS-certified. The remaining variants are covered by Oekotex 100. You can prove sustainability to your customers without having to dig for the paperwork.
- Stock preparation and shipping: Once a design is approved, it goes into stock ready to ship. You order — we ship. Delivery 1–3 business days to all of Europe.
What you actually buy — specifications that count
Our digital print jersey is primarily available in two variants. The most common is 220 g/m², 160 cm wide, with 95% cotton and 5% lycra. It provides a solid, dimensionally stable jersey with good cross-elasticity — suitable for everything from children’s wear to womenswear and casual menswear. Some designs are also available in 200 g/m², 150 cm wide, with the same fiber composition.
Both variants have the elasticity you expect from a cotton-lycra jersey and can be sewn inside out without any problems. We always recommend pre-washing at 30-40°C before cutting — your production people already know this, but it’s worth checking that it’s communicated to any subcontractors.
Minimum order is 10 meters per design. This is low enough for you to test a new print in your collection without tying up large amounts of capital — and high enough for us to ensure a proper production solution.
Consistent color reproduction — why it’s important in production
One of the most overlooked challenges with digital printing in clothing production is roll-to-roll variation. If you produce a children’s collection piece in three sizes and need fabric from two rolls, the colors must match. Otherwise, you’ll end up with complaints and waste.
We prioritize consistent color reproduction as a production requirement, not as a selling point. This means that our printing process is calibrated to reproduce the same result consistently — and that we only put fabric in stock when it meets that requirement. When you order from us, you know what you’re getting.
This is especially relevant if you are a clothing manufacturer with continuous production or a brand owner who launches new seasons with the same print design over time. You can reorder and expect the same result.
What exclusivity requires of you as a buyer
Exclusive print is not a given — it requires you to act on the designs you find while they are available. Our range is constantly updated and popular designs may be discontinued. This is not a sales tactic; it’s a consequence of us not producing endless quantities of each design.
Practically, this means that you should:
- Review new designs as soon as they’re available — don’t wait until the next procurement round
- Order enough for your season if a design is central to your collection
- Contact us directly if you need to reserve a specific quantity
We’re based in Ikast — the heart of the Danish textile industry — and we’re happy to talk directly about your needs. 1-3 business day delivery means you don’t need to hold large stocks; you can order close to when you need it, as long as you keep up with the range.
A substance that can’t be found anywhere else
This is not an empty claim. Our designs are developed in-house, refined by hand and printed exclusively for Jydsk Stoflager. You won’t find them at other wholesalers, in other countries’ textile catalogs or on generic print platforms. When you sell garments produced on our digital print jersey, you are selling something that cannot be bought cheaper elsewhere – because it is simply not for sale elsewhere.
It’s an advantage you can communicate directly to your customers, whether you’re a fabric shop selling to hobby sewers, a children’s clothing manufacturer with your own brands, or a brand owner building a collection from scratch.
