Exclusive fabric design vs. catalog printing — what attracts your customers?
Exclusive fabric design sells better than catalog prints — and that’s true across most segments, whether you’re running a fabric store, producing children’s clothing or marketing your own collection. When your customers can buy the same print at ten other stores, your differentiation disappears. Our exclusive digital print jersey isn’t available anywhere else — designed with AI and manually refined in Photoshop so each design has the precision and depth that makes it marketable.
Catalog printing — easy access, but at what cost?
Catalog printing is available. Your customers know this – and so does your competitor down the street. When you work with fabrics from suppliers’ standard catalogs, you’re buying into the same designs that the rest of the market has access to. For a buyer, this is appealing at first: familiar motifs, predictable colors, no surprises.
The problem arises when your customers start to recognize the print from another store or brand. This undermines your positioning – whether you sell fabric for further processing or finished collections. Differentiation requires you to offer something the customer can’t find anywhere else.
What exclusive design really means for your business
Exclusivity is not about having one unique design. It’s about your entire range signaling something that’s not generic. When you choose digital print jersey with exclusive designs, you set a standard for what your business delivers – and your customers notice.
For clothing manufacturers, it means you can launch a collection without worrying about the competition using the same fabric. For fabric stores, it means you can present novelties that generate genuine interest — not just another floral print in the same four colors.
Specifically, you should consider these factors when choosing between exclusive design and catalog printing:
- Exclusivity: Can your customers find the print anywhere else? If so, your margin will eventually disappear.
- Design quality: Is the design developed with commercial sustainability in mind or is it a generic catalog offering?
- Color fidelity from roll to roll: Consistent color reproduction is essential when ordering larger quantities for production.
- Certificates: GOTS-certified fabrics open doors to customers with sustainability requirements.
- Delivery time: In-stock items with 1-3 business day delivery is a concrete business argument that catalog printing from overseas suppliers can rarely match.
Our digital print jersey — specifications you can count on
All our digital print jersey is available in stock and ready to ship. The majority of the range is GOTS certified — the rest is Oekotex 100. You are working with a fabric that is 220 g/m², 160 cm wide and consists of 95% cotton and 5% lycra. It provides the cross-elasticity and shape retention needed for everything from children’s wear to casual wear.
The color reproduction is consistent from roll to roll — this is not a given in digital printing, but it is a requirement we set for our own production. When you order 50 meters for a collection, meter 50 should look like meter 1.
The minimum is 10 meters per order, regardless of the type of jersey fabric you choose. This allows you to test new designs with limited risk before scaling up.
AI design refined by hand — how our prints are made
Our design process starts with AI-generated designs that are then adjusted by hand in Photoshop. This means we don’t just take an algorithmic output and print it directly. Each design is reviewed and adjusted so that colors, proportions and repeat patterns work on fabric – not just on screen.
It’s the difference you feel when you hold the fabric in your hand. And it’s the difference your customers notice when they see the garment on a hanger or a piece of fabric on a roll. Prints with that level of detail sell themselves – you don’t have to explain them.
Because the designs are developed exclusively for us and refined by hand, they are not available in other fabric stores or from other wholesale suppliers. It’s not a marketing message — it’s a practical fact that directly protects your business profile.
Practical advice for your procurement strategy
If you currently work primarily with catalog prints, there’s no need to change your entire range all at once. An effective approach is to introduce exclusive designs as spearheads — the designs you actively market and put in the window display — while keeping catalog printing to basic colors and solid jersey fabrics without patterns.
This gives you a natural segmentation in your assortment: something that creates curiosity and traffic, and something that converts that traffic into stable repeat sales. It gives your customers a reason to come back — not just to reorder, but to see what’s new.
Also consider how exclusive design plays into your pricing strategy. When you can prove that a print is not available anywhere else, you have a stronger argument for keeping the price. This is true both for you as a fabric store and for the clothing manufacturers and brand owners who process it.
Delivery and ordering
We deliver throughout Europe — primarily Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia — with 1-3 business days delivery time. Stock items are ready to ship, so you avoid the waiting times that can otherwise delay your production or your store’s inventory update.
